10 BEGINNER FRIENDLY MANDALA IDEAS TO TRY DURING THIS SUMMER BREAK (Part 3/10)

 ✨ Clay Mandala Coasters

Overview:

Create beautiful mandala-textured coasters using air-dry clay. This project seamlessly blends sculpting and pattern work, resulting in a functional and aesthetically pleasing final product.

🌟 Step-by-Step Guide:

✨Step1. Roll Out Your Clay

Use air-dry clay and roll it out to about 5mm thickness. Use a cup or cutter to make even circles (around 3.5–4 inches in diameter).

✨Step2. Lightly Mark a Mandala Grid

Use a compass or freehand to create soft guides on each coaster to help place your pattern symmetrically.

✨Step3. Create the Mandala Design

Use a toothpick, clay tools, or even textured objects (like jewellery, stamps, or pen caps) to press mandala shapes into the clay surface. Work from the centre outward.

✨Step4. Smooth the Edges

Use water and your finger or a sponge to clean and smooth the sides of the coasters.

✨Step5. Let Them Dry

Allow the coasters to air dry fully for 24–48 hours (or follow your clay brand’s instructions).

✨Step6. Paint and Seal (Optional)

Paint with acrylics if desired, and seal with a waterproof varnish if you plan to actually use them for drinks.
