Commonly asked questions

These are some commonly asked questions that I will be answering from personal experience, as a mandala art expert for the past 5 years

This is some of my best work:

1. What are some of the skills required to be good at Mandala art?

One should have a basic understanding of symmetry, geometry, and geometrical patterns. Different people have different understandings of art, so no specific skill set is required. Moreover, you don’t need to already be an artist to excel in this field. Before I started mandalas, I had no kind of artistic experience whatsoever. You just need to devote time to it, and that’s how you’ll learn. You also need to be patient, since making mandalas is a slow process; one artwork can take days, sometimes weeks.

Additionally, that kind of stability in your hand comes only after extensive practice. If you try to take a shortcut and rush through the process, you won’t get the desired result. Let ur mind be creative, every piece is unique and depicts the artist's individuality.

2. What is an ideal environment for you to foster creative thoughts?

When you sit to do your mandala, you should be in a calm place, with minimal disturbance. You can put on some music if you want to boost concentration. These things ensure the continuous flow of creative thoughts in your mind. I also like to have all my art supplies next to me before I start, so that I don’t have to get up again and again to bring them.

3. What are the challenges you face in this field of creativity?

The most significant challenge I face is that sometimes I suffer from a creative block, when I am unable to think of any new ideas, or my mind just doesn’t give me the creativity I want. My work is not always consistent.

4.  How do you overcome those creative blocks?

I take a break for a few days from making mandalas, for about a week. And I explore some other forms of art. I search on Pinterest for some simple, step-by-step, colourful drawings, and I do those. Then, after a week, when I return to mandalas, I look for some ideas on Pinterest, Google or Instagram, I look at other people’s designs, and that is how the block gets cleared.

5. What contributes towards your creative thoughts?

Meditation- I meditate for 10 minutes every day. It relaxes my mind.

Second is that I ensure I do any kind of art in a peaceful environment, like I mentioned earlier, preferably one place that has less clutter and has a large surface area for me to work on.

These 2 things keep the creativity on, nothing else.
