 How to Make a Thread Mandala on Cardboard: Step-by-Step

This creative and beginner-friendly art project combines the calm of mandalas with the texture of string art. It's simple, satisfying, and perfect for DIY decor. Here’s how to create your own Thread Mandala on Cardboard.

                                                 

✨ Step 1: Cut Your Base Circle

Use thick cardboard and trace a circle using a lid, plate, or compass. Cut it out neatly—this will be your base. A diameter of 6–10 inches is ideal for manageability and visual balance.

✨ Step 2: Mark Points Around the Circle

Use a ruler and pencil to divide the circle’s edge into evenly spaced points. You can start with 12 (like a clock) or increase to 16, 20, or more for a more intricate design.

✨ Step 3: Poke Holes at Each Mark

Using a pushpin, needle, or safety pin, carefully poke holes through each marked point. Ensure they are equally spaced and not too close to the edge to prevent tearing.

✨ Step 4: Choose the Thread and Anchor It

                                        

Select embroidery floss, thin yarn, or strong thread in the colour of your choice. Tie a knot at one end, thread it through your starting hole from the back, and tape the end securely on the reverse side.
